My Approach

I am a person-centred counsellor. I believe that you are the expert on you, and that my role is to support you by working with you help untangle your thoughts and feelings..I agree with Carl Rogers, who pioneered person-centred theory: that we want to be the best version of ourselves.  To do that it helps to discover what's going on in our heads in order to work through our life choices and to be the best we can be. Counselling is not about telling you what to do - it's about listening and wanting to understand how life feels in your shoes. And that's where I hope to help you.

What to expect

We work in my studio - a warm, quiet, comfortable and confidential space in a beautiful part of Devon on the edge of Dartmoor.  I offer a free 30 minute trial session so that you can see if you feel comfortable working with me and if I am the right counsellor for you.  Subsequent sessions last 50 minutes (£35 per session) and I believe it is beneficial to meet weekly for as many times as we both find helpful, whether that just be a few sessions or more longer term.

I start by asking you a few questions about yourself, why you would like counselling and what you are hoping to get out of it.  Counselling is a talking therapy, it's about being really listened to and heard.

I am happy to work online using various video platforms or the telephone.  I have just resumed working in my studio as we can have the windows open for a good cross breeze and sit 2m apart.

"The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction - not a destination"
